Introducing our June Bizness Babe - Megan Mallen from Mini Hippo. am a Mum who likes unique products. Through the generous support of the Bizness Babes course I was able to turn an idea into a business, Mini Hippo Imports. The goal of Mini Hippo Imports is to share my unique finds from overseas with Australian and New Zealand consumers, by way of importing and distributing them to retail and online stores.

The first product launched is a unique and nostalgic range of children‘s toy and dummy attachers called Bink Link‘s. Bink Links are cute and practical chains to keep a dummy or small toy safely attached to your baby‘s clothing, handy especially on pram trips.

We have a range of nostalgic designs including peas and carrots, gumballs, candy necklace, blueberries, icecream cones and pirates. These will be followed soon by a range of similar styled necklaces for older children called Fruitabees.

Safety is a huge motivating factor in the business as i have a small child and another on the way. Thus before launch, the Bink Link was subjected to vigorous safety testing to ensure it was safe to sell. This will continue to be in the forefront of our minds when looking for future innovative or funky products to import and distribute. All products need to be safe enough that I‘d allow my own children to use them, and fit our strict criteria of being unique and useful.
